  1. "Welcome To The Mod Squad!" posted by SNAFU3613 on February 29, 2012   (10 comments)

This will be my first attempt at posting a blog so bear with me while I learn the ropes. A brief disclaimer, I am not a writer and I don't claim, or pretend, to be one. So please forgive my abuse of the English language and grammar in general.

I have decided to focus on a true passion of mine, Asphalt Tour-Type Modifieds! Throughout .... Read the rest of this blog

  2. "Time And Tide 500" posted by The Vicar on February 28, 2012   (1 comment)

Another good race is in the can.

Occasionally ( OK, regularly ) I criticize Nascar for one thing or other. Mostly because it's easy. But I've got to give them extremely high marks for this speedweeks. They did everything they could to touch all the bases and satisfy everyone's needs. They battled indomitable foes best they could. In the end, .... Read the rest of this blog

Phoenix most likely won't be nearly as exciting and chaotic as Daytona, but that doesn't mean it won't be an awesome race! It seems Johnson has just dominated here recently but can he win again?

  5. "Sprint Cup Predictor Standings after Daytona" posted by 24over48 on February 28, 2012   (6 comments)

No doubt, a Daytona 500 we will never forget. It's a good thing everyone eventually walked away from all the carnage in the event. So many predictions for this race, it was nice to see all those entries this early in the season! The "MIPA" (Most Impressive Prediction Award) goes to Bronco. Correctly predicted 3 of the top-5, congratulations Bronco!

  6. "Back With A Bang" posted by Riverside on February 28, 2012   (1 comment)

Sorry for the pun, I couldn't resist, but have you seen anything like that?

Not since Nick Heidfeld took the driver's side door off of the safety car in Brazil in 2002 have I seen anything as crazy. While it was an unusual accident, the usual suspects were still unfazed, with Matt Kenseth winning the first Daytona 500 to run into a Tuesday.

  7. "Power Rankings - Week 2 Phoenix" posted by Mik Maq racer83 on February 28, 2012   (0 comments)

1.Matt Kenseth (LW 12th) - You can now call him a 2 time champion of the Daytona 500. The last time he won the 500 he followed it up with a win in the second race of the 2009 season. Can history repeat itself? Kenseth has enjoyed moderate success on the older Phoenix configuration. Matt wrecked in last fall's Phoenix race on the new configuration.

  8. "Nationwide Predictor Standings after Daytona" posted by 24over48 on February 25, 2012   (3 comments)

If that crash on the final lap hadn't have happened, just double all your points and that's pretty much how it would've been. Yet another crash fest, let's hope the 500 is different as I fear for the safety of the drivers. Way too many hard hits so far this weekend. And please read rules 1 and 2 on my "unwritten rules" post. Those are the most important. .... Read the rest of this blog

  10. ""Unwritten" Rules for Predictor Championship. PLEASE READ" posted by 24over48 on February 23, 2012   (11 comments)

After looking through the posts, I did notice a couple things that I have not previously mentioned.

    1. I will not count any predictions after the start of the race. When that green flag flies, that's it, "The polls are closed".

    2. Please be respectful! I've already found one comment that could be taken offensively. All I ask is if .... Read the rest of this blog

The dust has settled on the 2012 Gatorade Duels at Daytona and the field is set for the 500. Tony Stewart held off a hard charging Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win Duel #1 while Matt Kenseth blew by teammate Greg Biffle to steal the win in Duel #2.

Another Super Bowl ( 46 minus 2 ) is in the can.

    Semi-chronological preseason observations:

Whatever our (my) current opinion of Ol' DW is, his acceptance speech at the Nascar Hall of Fame induction ceremony was heartfelt and touching.

And now, the race we've all been waiting for, the Daytona 500. Trevor Bayne is already locked in and I wouldn't be surprised if he's up near the front in the final few laps. He has shown he can race well at Daytona and Talladega, but with the pack racing returning, will that change his performance? Could this be the year for Tony Stewart to finally .... The Nationwide Series begins at Daytona! One thing is different this year, no Carl Edwards! Trevor Bayne is in the #60. So the question is, will we see more Nationwide regular success? Kyle Busch is running a limited schedule, but is running Daytona, but Brad K is still racing. And then, of course, we have the Daytona opener that is nearly all Cup drivers.

Saturday night we saw a heck of race at Daytona. There was good racing, three massive wrecks, Jeff Gordon on his roof, an incredible come back and a photo finish. So what is the problem? The problem was that every wreck I saw tonight and during practice for the Shoot-Out had one common denominator. They were all caused by a car pushing on the left .... Read the rest of this blog

  28. "NSFW" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on February 16, 2012   (0 comments)

It has come to my attention that many people feel that Danica Patrick's achievements (or lack thereof) have been overshadowed by her provocative modeling career. 37. "Chess vs. Monopoly" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on February 7, 2012   (2 comments)

Pack racing is often compared to chess. The rationale for this is that pack racing requires careful strategy to put a competitor in position to win. I have found that people, who believe this to be true, know little about chess.
