  6. "Why Indy Part 2" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on May 31, 2012   (4 comments)

It is no secret that the landscape of American automobile makers has changed in the last hundred years. If the Brickyard were to be built today, it would probably be a lot closer to Detroit. Of course if you did build a low-banked 2.5-mile rectangle in Detroit today, no one would care.

I'm not basing that on CART alone. Between 1909 and .... Read the rest of this blog

Another ' Greatest Day In Racing ' is in the can.

If that were true, one would think I'd have a lot more to say.

These three events, although run on three iconic and varied courses with three very different vehicle types, do share at least one thing: the pre-race show is usually more entertaining than the race. Each had a similar amount .... Read the rest of this blog

It has been nearly three months since I last posted, but it is great to be back! I needed to take a brief hiatus due to some moderate travel for work and to sort out some odds and ends at home, plus a couple blog ideas never really panned out.

Not a lot of passing, but... - Monaco produced a good, intriguing race. Was it going to rain? Was it not? Monaco showed that you don't need a boatload of passes to make a race exciting, but the boys put on a good show.

I have reworked the standings. I keep having this delusion that Draco was Spain's MIPA.
For Spen, when you pick, you are basically picking drivers to finish in a specific range, win, 2-5, and 6-10. You only get points for win if you picked the right winner; you only get points for drivers correctly picked to finish in 2, 3, 4, or 5 and actually .... Read the rest of this blog

Cops and robbers continues. One day Nascar will set the table and just leave it alone for a while. It seems there was a time some years ago that the format was stable for at least a few years. Post your picks as normal; no changes will be accepted after the scheduled race start time, whether 8:00 AM, 1:30AM, or 2:00PM. This week's deadline is 8:00 AM, so .... Read the rest of this blog

  51. "The Greatest F1 Drivers" posted by Hinch27 on May 10, 2012   (12 comments)

I did this Sporcle quiz today, and boy was I mortified. This was Motorweek's 100 greatest F1 drivers, and I strongly disagreed with some. I have only watched F1 since 2005, but even I knew that there was severe prejudice toward minorities and deceased drivers in doing this. I have done my analysis over these years, and I decided to do my own ratings, .... Read the rest of this blog

Another race is in the can.

I have for a very long time believed there are three sides to every story: yours, mine and the truth. As it turns out, after listening to the post ' mini-big one ' interviews, there is a fourth side. The Martin Truex, Jr. side.

As long as we're on that subject, it's obvious the horseshoe that appeared to .... Read the rest of this blog

Two races from he-- this weekend. Both involved driver blowups, and both ended farcically. The NNS race featured lots of passing that turned into a follow-the-leader joke for the last 20 laps, but what a move by Logano to pass Shrubby before the line! Thank God for safer barriers; without them, we probably would lost Eric McClure, but now he is entered .... Read the rest of this blog
