Saturday: 30-minute practice session, 20-minute qualifying for Race 2, and Race 1 held for 200km

    Read part 1 before continuing.

I shall now focus on Tier-3, that is to be our "F3." I do not go into Tier-4 as that is the national and semi-national likes of USF2000 and Japanese Formula Three...

I don't think I do, but it's fun to imagine.

I have been looking at how things are going in the FIA right, and I don't see how they expect to succeed with their current feeder series layout. It's too confusing; too many names for the same thing; too many "Formula Renault/Ford/Nissan/etc." series. Time for somebody to redesign the series so .... Read the rest of this blog

  6. "1951, Latford style!" posted by Spen on September 25, 2013   (4 comments)

1951 was a big year. 376 drivers total ran a race that season. 271 of them had never run in Cup before. Both numbers are record highs. Oh, and we still have that silly 'no racing in other series' rule.

I hate to sound cliché, but this is it.

Eleven grueling rounds of the Grand-Am Rolex Series have passed since the green flag waved at Daytona in January, and it all comes down to this. The championship round, at Lime Rock Park.

This race is historic. Very historic, in that it will mark the end of the Grand-Am Series as we .... Read the rest of this blog

Two weeks down, eight weeks to go. And this time, I made sure to check my facts and have confirmed that Dover is NOW looming on the horizon. But enough about my stupidity. To the standings!

    I know... I'm out of control ;)

We have the news the Nationwide is canning its sponsorship after 2014 to focus on sponsorship at a higher level. Should this be a surprise? No way! Who would want to sponsor this. I'll get to that later. At least in the last 15-20 years, it seems every driver in every interview has mentioned the team and teamwork and the guys back at the shop. There are two recent examples of how that sentiment may be .... Read the rest of this blog

Once upon a time I thought wrestling and Roller Derby were real. I believed that longer than I believed the Santa Claus and Easter Bunny bits.

The year was 1954. Autodromo Nazionale di Monza was undergoing a makeover. The garages were updated, some stands were built, and the oval was made more intense. Monza's oval was built with the rest of the track, but had relatively mild earth embankments for corners. The new oval would be banked with concrete supports - for some reason. The revamped .... I hope everybody enjoyed this past weekend as much as I did! Thing started off kind of slowly with the Nationwide race since most of my favorites struggled through the race (and I was less than thrilled that a Cup driver won), but as soon as the calendar turned to September, I was singing the exact opposite tune.
