  1. "Old vs. New Points - 1999 CART Season REWORK" posted by Riverside on December 31, 2012   (1 comment)

I've always had a fascination with the Americans take on points systems. Nowadays they aren't that complicated, as I found out doing my reworking all the way through to very early stages motorsport. One of the more interesting reworks was this 1999 one. JUAN PABLO MONTOYA and DARIO FRANCHITTI were tied on points at the end of the season with 212. MONTOYA .... Read the rest of this blog

  2. "My Predictions for the 2013 NASCAR Season" posted by cjs3872 on December 28, 2012   (17 comments)

These are my predictions for the 2013 NASCAR season. There will be some general predictions, as well as winners for selected big races, as well as the Chase field for 2013. So without further delay, here are my predictions for the 2013 NASCAR season:

    1. There will be no first-time winners for the second consecutive season. The only non-winners .... Read the rest of this blog

  3. "The Greatest Ever Drivers" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on December 26, 2012   (18 comments)

So, people are having debates over who's the greatest NASCAR driver. I want to broaden this out, so for this post, I'm going to post my top 10 drivers, followed by 5 youngsters and 5 ones who didn't make it. If you want to submit yours, then it's fine. If you want to 'correct' me, then I don't care. I will explain why each driver is where they are too, .... Read the rest of this blog

  4. "2013 Predictor Cups" posted by NicoRosbergFan on December 24, 2012   (2 comments)

I promised a post about a month before the Rolex 24 about next year's predictor cups, so here it is. As a warning, I will be hosting picks for the Rolex Sports Car Series, the American Le Mans Series, the IZOD IndyCar Series, and the Formula One World Championship. I will combine all of weekend's series into one post, so if all four series are racing .... Read the rest of this blog

  5. "The Top 40 NSCS Drivers of All-Time, Part 4 (The Top Ten)" posted by cjs3872 on December 23, 2012   (21 comments)

In the last three blog posts, I've ranked, in groups of ten, some of the legends of the sport in terms of where I put them on my list of the greatest drivers of all-time. But in this blog post, the fourth and last ranking the greatest drivers in the history of NASCAR's top series, we go from the legends to the icons, as the best of the best appear. .... 6. "Old vs. New Points - 1974 WINSTON CUP Rework" posted by Riverside on December 23, 2012   (0 comments)

1974 was the last time the convoluted system of points for miles was used before the new system came into force in 1975. RICHARD PETTY won the Cup with a convincing margin of more than 250 points from CALE YARBOROUGH, but with the reworking shown here, it really would've been a lot closer.

    PS - Happy Holidays everyone!

Pos - Driver .... Read the rest of this blog

  7. "The Top 40 NSCS Drivers of All-Time, Part 3 (11-20)" posted by cjs3872 on December 19, 2012   (18 comments)

Before I go on, I want to clear up some misinformation on the last blog post on this subject, which has to do with Dale Jarrett's championship. First, his chapionship came in 1999, not 2000, and he and his father Ned, of course, are not the only father-son duo to win championships in NASCAR's top series.

At any rate, this is the third part .... Read the rest of this blog

  8. "Old vs. New Points - 1972 WINSTON WEST Rework" posted by Riverside on December 18, 2012   (1 comment)

The 1972 Winston West series was won by RAY ELDER, despite HERSHEL McGRIFF winning three more races and having generally much better results. This is because of the convoluted points system NASCAR employed in the 60s and 70s where you would points from where you finish and from the amount of laps you completed. Using a much simpler system (1975 rules), .... Read the rest of this blog

  10. "What if...The 1999 points were converted to the new system" posted by Dj88fan on December 14, 2012   (1 comment)

So this is a new series I thought I would start here on the website. It's called "What if?" I thought I would try converting each NASCAR season into today's points and see who/if the same driver would end up champion. Some do - however, some don't and a lot of drastic things do happen.

The first season I decided to do was 1999. Dale Jarrett, .... Read the rest of this blog

  11. "Even More Offseason Viewing" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on December 14, 2012   (1 comment)

The long, cold winter is upon us. More importantly, there's no more racing to watch. As per the usual tradition, I have amassed some of the best bootlegged races the Internet has to offer (which I have also already watched).

NASCAR has announced the Nationwide Series will not return to Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in 2013. While this is obviously .... Read the rest of this blog

  13. "Thoughts on 2012, 2013 Predictions, and an Old Man" posted by NicoRosbergFan on December 13, 2012   (4 comments)

The 2012 racing seasons saw an amazing comeback, a return to roots, the next generation, and the end of a great rivalry.

I start with the comeback. I know I was not the only person who was giving Fernando Alonso the trophy for the 2012 Formula One World Championship after Hungary. What we saw was one of the greatest championship comebacks .... Read the rest of this blog

  15. "Old vs. New Points - 2012 ARCA Series Rework" posted by Riverside on December 9, 2012   (3 comments)

I do not know a lot about the ARCA series (I've seen a couple of races), but I do know that they operate a complicated points system (explained here: http://www.arcaracing.com/points_explanation.php). It's a bit too crazy for me, so here is a reworking I did, replacing their points system with the new NASCAR points system. Here's how it looks:

This is the first of four such blogs, and will feature the drivers I've ranked 31st-40th all-time. It will feature not only the drivers, but also stats and associated .... 22. "2012 Fantasy NASCAR Predictor Cup Awards" posted by 24over48 on December 1, 2012   (0 comments)

First things first I'd like to acknowledge the champions. In the Trucks, it took a long time for him to get the other competitors off his back, but he was able to enter Homestead with some relief. Spen was able to take home the inaugural Fantasy NASCAR Predictor Cup Truck Series Championship (long title, I know). Congratulations Spen.
