  1. "My Predictions for the 2014 NASCAR Season" posted by cjs3872 on December 31, 2013   (55 comments)

As you may know, one of my traditions has been to make my predictions for the NASCAR season around Christmas or New Years. Well, since that time has come again, I'll make my predictions for the 2014 NASCAR season, which will include who I think may be in the 2014 Chase field, winners of the big races, the Sprint Cup Rookie of the year, as well as the .... 2. "Making Corrections in NOWCAR" posted by Hinch27 on December 27, 2013   (0 comments)

Sorry about posting that bad link. I didn't realize the page I used demanded membership. Here's a sample of a season page.

Season example (not in actual format):

    Title
    Track
    Pole Winner
    Fastest Lap
    Race Winner
    Winning Team

  3. "Devastation on the Horizon in TUSCC" posted by Hinch27 on December 27, 2013   (5 comments)

As we know, the Rolex Series and the American Le Mans Series united to form the "Tudor United SportsCar Championship." In so doing they combined the classes like this:

    1. P2 + DP + Deltawing = P
    2. PC = PC
    3. GT2 = GTLM
    4. GTC + GX + GT = GTD

At first this seems simple, except for one issue: the P2s are typically 4-7 seconds .... Read the rest of this blog

  4. "Advice and Aid from my Racing Peers" posted by Hinch27 on December 26, 2013   (1 comment)

Since the TM Master Cup Wiki came up in the comments section this week, I thought I'd bring this. I first heard of it here at RR within the last year, and found it encouraging. I had had the same thought for several years myself, but I don't have the ability to do it.

    (a) Is there a FREE wiki server out there that would allow for the unlimited .... Read the rest of this blog

  5. "NEW: The RR Fantasy Racing Dynasty League (Name Pending)" posted by The Long Shot on December 24, 2013   (30 comments)

    Greetings!

I trust you all have enjoyed/are enjoying your holidays, especially with the trivia games that BIARB has been issuing for us recently. However, it's time for us to focus on the upcoming racing season. As some of you may know, I announced in my end-of-year message to the NASCAR league that I would be forming a new league of my own .... Read the rest of this blog

  6. "The Non-Championship Quiz That You Should Get 100% In" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on December 24, 2013   (15 comments)

Basically, having received many complaints (and a bit of rule breaking from NRF, but luckily I'm not Bernie Ecclestone so that's fine) I've got 5 questions that most motorsport fans should get 100% in, American, European, Asian, Australian, or African.

Of course, the same rules apply:

    Rules + Conditions:
    - No information will be .... Read the rest of this blog

  7. "The RacingReference Christmas Quiz - Section 4" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on December 23, 2013   (10 comments)

Well, this is the final section.

Seeing as I've posted 2 today, I'm hoping to have even more fun tomorrow marking this stuff!

    Rules + Conditions:
    - No information will be looked up on via the internet.
    - All questions must be answered - even if guessed
    - No time limit
    - No slating of me, just because you won't get some .... Read the rest of this blog

  8. "The RacingReference Christmas Quiz - Section 3" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on December 23, 2013   (2 comments)

Yes, just when you thought that things were going to get easy in the lead up to Christmas, think again.

This section is deliberately made up of questions that are ridiculous. Personally I'd only get 5 surefire marks in this one, compared to a very nice 13 in the first section! I suppose this is MY quiz...

But anyway, without any further .... Read the rest of this blog

  9. "The RacingReference Christmas Quiz - Section 2" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on December 22, 2013   (4 comments)

Well, it's section 2, but this is much easier.

Now that I've said that, you're going to get about 2 marks out of the 15.

But before the questions begin, here are the rules and conditions:

    Rules + Conditions:
    - No information will be looked up on via the internet.
    - All questions must be answered - even if guessed
    - No .... Read the rest of this blog

  10. "Preliminary Sprint Cup Lineup for 2014" posted by cjs3872 on December 21, 2013   (5 comments)

As we get near the end of 2013, it's time to look ahead to 2014, and what better way to start than to look at the preliminary lineup for the top series in NASCAR, the Sprint Cup Series, for next year. The main list will be teams projected to run the full season, but teams known to me to be running just a partial schedule will also be included.

Here's .... Read the rest of this blog

  12. "Offseason Viewing 2013-14" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on December 21, 2013   (0 comments)

Winter is upon us (in the correct hemisphere) again. If you find yourself with a little extra time to kill, maybe you should watch some bootlegs of old races on Youtube. I've found a couple good ones for you.

For the Formula One inclined, I've found the 1993 Italian Grand Prix. This race features an incident between Ayrton Senna and Martin .... Read the rest of this blog

  13. "2014 United SportsCar Championship Fantasy Countdown" posted by David on December 15, 2013   (4 comments)

It's almost that time of year again (even though it's actually next year) for the sports-car racers to fire their engines and hit the road. 2014 will usher in yet another season of the fast, competitive racing. But it will also bring changes, as the newly-minted United SportsCar Championship takes the wheel for the foreseeable future. And accordingly, .... Read the rest of this blog

  14. "A quick question for everyone" posted by Biscuits In A Red Bull on December 12, 2013   (13 comments)

How many guys here would be interested in "competing" in a light-hearted, pretty damn difficult Christmas quiz on this site. All questions will be motorsport related and no cheating is allowed (don't know how to enforce that though).

Just interested in feedback. The blogs need something to keep them alive over winter that isn't speculation .... Read the rest of this blog

  15. "Two New Cup Rookies Reflecting Careers" posted by NASCARgirl01 on December 4, 2013   (6 comments)

With the announcement from Swan Racing about their plans for next year to have Cole Whitt and Parker Kligerman both running full-time in the Cup series for them, I could not be more excited about it! Instead of choosing just one of them, as I expected them to do, they picked up both of them (and we now have two more drivers added to the battle for .... Read the rest of this blog

  16. "NASCAR Sprint Cup Bowl Championship Series" posted by Uptight Motorsports Nerd on December 1, 2013   (2 comments)

For years I have tinkered with the notion of replacing point systems in racing with a statistical formula. I submit my latest formula for your approval. This formula rewards winning, but it doesn't reward consistency so much as it punishes inconsistency. If ESPN can invent statistics, why can't I?

    P=((W*12)+(F*6)+(T*3)+p+(M*3)+L+(43-A))-((f*4)+(N*8)+(Y*5))

    Whereas
P .... Read the rest of this blog
