"Proper Race Title 400"

Another race is in the can.

The race title, as it always is at Pocono, is a proper one but could be more so if there was a '500' in there.

I love Barney Hall of MRN, but it seems he has caught - and can't shake - the ' Kenseths ' bug that had previously infected some of his colleagues on other networks. Just a nit I can't stop picking. Sorry.

Seriously, how can you be 23 laps down and get caught speeding on pit road ( 18 )?

As I have previously indicated, there has been some question about the number of wins for Bobby Allison. That question may still be open, but what appears to be settled is who is now in 3rd place alone in career victories.

I have for some time believed that the points leader after the ' regular ' season should get some award whether it be cash, a trophy or ( preferably ) some bonus points. Without doing the ciphering, it seems the leader after 26 races could end up being 10th seed in The Chase. I think he should be 1st seed automatically.

Everyone appears to be saddened by Dodge's exit from the sport. I am too. Mainly because they have the only car on the track immediately recognizable. At least in the Nationwide series. Otherwise, you really have to pay attention to the grilles or try to read the model names. I'm still watching on a 27" CRT tv, so it's not always that easy.

I would like to talk about lightning, but something is telling me it's too soon.

8.5.79: Kyle Petty finally made his Cup debut ( Dega ). Started 18th and finished 9th.
