"A Rarity in Today's Daytona Race"

Hello everyone! It has been a long time since I posted something here. I don't keep up with NASCAR like I once did, although I usually read an article about each race the following day and check out the final results.

Congratulations to Aric Almirola and the #43 team today! That team has gone a long time (15 years) without a win, so I am happy for them. The only bad part is that both of Almirola's wins in NASCAR's top 2 series will have an asterisk by them. Still, it's a great day for him and the whole #43 team!

Here is the main reason for this blog post: In looking at today's unofficial results, I noticed an oddity...something I'm not sure I've ever seen before. If you look at today's top 10 finishers, not a single one of them currently ranks in the top-10 in points. Not one! I'm curious to find out if this has ever happened before. I don't have the time to research it fully, but if anyone does (or if you happen to remember another race where this happened), please let me know by leaving a comment!

Here are the points positions of the 17 lead lap finishers, in order: 21st, 16th, 24th, 23rd, 13th, 14th, 38th, 27th, 12th, 19th, 40th, 1st, 35th, 2nd, 26th, 10th, 6th. This was a very unique race indeed...which isn't overly surprising at a plate track, but it usually doesn't happen to this extreme. But it is exciting to me, because I love to see the underdogs do well.
