In the NASCAR Nationwide Season opener at Daytona, the ratings went through the roof as Indy car star and Godaddy girl came into NASCAR and made her debut. She was so much in the spotlight that it has been considered the biggest NASCAR debut since Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Week 2 of the 13 race schedule for Danica changed things a bit. Now, don't get me wrong, there was an extreme amount of attention on her, but something surprising happened that the TV did not even expect. The ratings dropped. Wow!
So exactly what does this mean? Does this mean that less attention is on her? Does this mean Danica Mania is dying out? Well, I don't think so.
I do however believe that people might be "laying back" from her. After watching the Daytona debut, fans may begin to think that it will indeed take time for her to suceed so they will watch from a far. They will most likely just pay attention to her through race recaps and other smaller TV shows and forms of news.
So for now, let's not get too excited that the ratings will increase. The TV companies may have to rethink that now.
Believe me, Danica Mania will continue, it's just slowing down a little. If Danica does suceed, watch out Dale Jr, you have a new most popular driver coming your way.
