"My Texas Picks"

No Monday Morning Round up this week, or next. Been extremely busy lately (some things out of my control), so watching races have not exactly been top priority. I will still do my best to make my fantasy NASCAR picks

Phoenix Results

A-List - Jimmie Johnson did not fail me. 3rd place finish, and a ton of laps lead. 106 points from Jimmie, tops amongst A-listers

B-List - Marcos Ambrose qualified nicely (started 4th, earning me a point), and finished reasonably well (11th), while Jeff Burton... ok, where is this RCR resurgence that was happening earlier this season. 71 points from Ambrose, 42 from Jeff Burton

C-List - Ok, had I not been busy, I probably would of made the switch to Sam Hornish, like what was suggested to me, but I got stuck on the Menard train, and failed. Scott Speed's outside pole was a nice consolation though. 34 points from Menard, 5 points from Speed, 258 points overall.

Ok, I gotta get out of this rut. I have scored under 275 points 4 straight, and this has got to end now...

Starter - Tony Stewart
Reserve - Jeff Gordon

Denny Hamlin has the best average finish amongst A-listers here in the last 10 races, but that ACL deal, from what I have seen, is giving him problems, so he is eliminated as a choice from me. Jimmie Johnson has a good record here as well, but I don't want to use him too much already. For me, it was between Tony Stewart and Mark Martin. Pulling a name out of the hat for this one, and Tony will be my starter. Jeff Gordon is my reserve pick, due to his excellent qualifying record here (6.8)

Starters - Matt Kenesth, Kevin Harvick
Reserves - Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne

Matt Kenesth might not have won here in the last 10 races, but his record has been nothing short of stellar (6.5 avg finish). If history is a factor, this is a no-brainer. Kevin Harvick has been reasonably good here, and if RCR can gather things back up, this should be another good pick. Dale Jr. and Kahne are reserves for being reasonable qualifiers here.

Starter - Bill Elliott
Reserve - Scott Speed

I know, I might be razzed on a bit for picking Elliott, in a part time car, but I got a funny feeling telling me to pick Elliott. Don't ask why. Speed is my usual reserve pick.
