"TMI - Too Much Information"

Was it even appropriate for the media to announce that Kasey Kahne. had accepted an offer by Hendrick Motorsports & had given Richard Petty Motorsports notification that he would be leaving after the 2010 season? Aren't these entities three private contractors who have no legal obligation to make any information known to the general public? I find it foolish for all parties involved to even acknowledge that the deal was going on.
Think of all the lives that this information is influencing. Where will the support organization for the RPM number nine car go at the end of this season? How much stress has this introduced in the lives of these folks, their families and friends? Perhaps forewarned is forearmed but isn't ignorance bliss? Were the folks that sell Kahne merchandise out of their hauler at every race thought about before this story broke? How sad to be left with thousands of pieces of merchandis made instantly obsolete "by the stroke of a pen". Perhaps discretion should have been the better part of valor and the negotiations kept secret just a little while longer perhaps, to help everyone involved.
